There are so many railway signs here that you definitely won’t lose your way—or maybe the opposite! Anyone arriving by train to Brniště, a village in the Czech Republic, can’t miss an unusual sight: a train station covered in railway signs. This impressive display is the result of many years of work by a railway worker.
The man behind this extraordinary collection is Zdeněk Pavlas, a former stoker who has been gathering railway artifacts for nearly 60 years. His collection includes boards, lamps, signs, and much more—items he found at old train stations or received from others. Driven by his love for railways, Mr. Pavlas has turned the station into what feels like a homemade museum. It might seem hard to believe, but he knows the story behind every piece in his collection. With so many artifacts and the charming, cluttered surroundings of the old station, meeting the owner would be an unforgettable experience for any visitor.
