While walking along the Radbuza River in Chotěšov Municipality, Czech Republic, you cannot miss a spectacular sight—a cabin perched on the pillar of a former bridge, surrounded by water. Does someone live there? Is it a witch’s house? Discover the fascinating story behind this unique place.
The cabin was built around 1993 by members of the Young Tourists Club during summer camps held in the area. They put so much effort into their work that the cabin became a remarkable landmark, quickly turning into a local tourist attraction. Each weekend, dozens—sometimes even hundreds—of visitors came to marvel at this extraordinary structure. Unfortunately, its popularity also led to problems, as the influx of tourists caused damage to the road leading to the site.
Although the cabin on the pillar was a beloved local attraction, it had to be removed to make way for a planned cycling bridge. However, its final moments were just as dramatic as its existence. The cabin was set on fire for the filming of Tomáš Klein’s movie Sensitive Person, creating a breathtaking spectacle before it disappeared forever.
This is so cool! I found a website that documents the filming at the location, including the burning of the cabin! https://opavsky.denik.cz/volny-cas/po-krnovu-plzensko-nataceni-filmu-citlivy-clovek-pokracovalo-u-reky-radbuzy-2022.html thanks for sharing. The movie looks really interesting!
I’m sure burning the cabin was very impressive, too bad that it happened only once 😀
