Deep into the Mist. The Magic of Gloomy Landscapes [Prague, Czech Republic]

Just another area which is more about its atmosphere caused by a particular time of the year and weather than the physical location. Following the road through the misty landscape in the outskirts of Prague (Czech Republic) it was simply impossible not to stop and immortalize the views on the pictures. Here’s the result—gloomy, even a bit frightening sceneries that are definitely not that often to see.

Inside the Industrial Giant. A Stunning Abandoned Foundry [Czech Republic]

A huge space full of massive constructions covered with dust and filled with a specific smell of metal. Even if you’re not a big fan of decaying industrial sites, this abandoned foundry in the Czech Republic can easily steal a few hours of your life. No long descriptions this time—a plenty of metal constructions inside speaks louder than words.

Where a Devil Lives. An Abandoned Villa on the Hill [Czech Republic]

One of the trips spent exploring abandoned places in the Czech Republic brought me to an old decaying villa situated in the southern part of the country. At first sight the exterior of the building was more beautiful than its interior, which in other words means that there was no point to stay inside longer. However, there was one ‘hellish’ detail in the villa which had an impact on its atmosphere and made me spend there a bit more time.

Just Another Story About the Beauty in Sorrow. A Stunning Pet Cemetery [Prague, Czech Republic]

I never miss an opportunity to explore pet cemeteries. What I like the most about such places is their specific atmosphere—kitschy and sentimental decorations together with the purpose of these sites turn them into something weird and beutiful—in their own way. After visiting pet cemeteries in Lithuania, Poland (the old one as well as its new part) and Moldova, it was time to visit the one Prague (Czech Republic). Despite the official name ‘Psí hřbitov’, or ‘Dog Cemetery’, there also other pets buried there, even cats—the eternal enemies of dogs. The area is rather small, however, it’s full of graves, and the rest of it is overgrown with trees and bushes. This composition of nature and kitschy decorations as usual turned the place into something extraordinary and inviting to explore it.

Chasing the Mist. Early Morning near Pouzdřany [Czech Republic]

My plan on that early October morning was to walk from Pouzdřany, a village in the Czech Republic, to a huge water reservoir nearby and see the first sunshine reflecting on its mirror surface. Not that much divided me from that—just a few kilometres of the forest. However, darkness was too thick and a path crossing it too twisted, so I had to look for another option. I decided to stop for a while to wait for night to fade away and that appeared to be the best idea—early October sunlight and mist turned the area into something breathtaking.

Another Random Village. Following the Roads of Štědrá [Czech Republic]

Just another unknown village that I would probably never go if not one famous abandoned place situated in the area. Štědrá is a small settlement situated far a away from big cities, and first thing that you can see there after leaving the train are a few old buildings covered with a shade of decay and emptiness surrounding them. However, despite the gloomy impression they create, it is still worth to stay there for a while and explore the area around.

A Dry Fir and Shiny Baubles. The Christmas Spirit Imprisoned in the Decaying Church [Czech Republic]

It was just another abandoned church hiding in some village in the Czech Republic. The same as in case of other forgotten sacral places, there was a beauty flowing from its bitten by time walls and decaying interior. However, this decaying temple had also something more—a detail that made it stuck in mind for a long time after leaving the site.

In the Middle of Nowhere. Following the Road Through Zbraslav [Czech Republic]

No matter what’s the final destination, a trip can bring you to many other sites which are simply too unknown to be chosen for the place to visit but still worth to stop for a while. Zbraslav is a small village in the western part of the Czech Republic that I visited on the way to the church of ghosts, quite famous decaying temple in the area. The thing making this settlement so unforgettable was its remoteness—there was nothing else around apart from forests and fields surrounding a few old buildings lost in the middle of nowhere.

A Story of One Staircase. Exploring a Beautiful Decaying Villa [Czech Republic]

No matter how empty a building is and how bare its walls are, it still can have something that will force to stop there for a while. That is the best way to describe in a few words an abandoned villa hiding somewhere in the Czech Republic. The place is lack of almost everything inside, however, it still has a stunning staircase which can easily take the breath away.

Taken over by Rust. A Cemetery of Old Cars [Czech Republic]

Once fast and shiny vehicles, today rusty wrecks stuck between thick bushes. A cemetery of decaying cars in the Czech Republic contains plenty of decaying automobiles and their quantity in this relatively small place definitely takes the breath away. The photos below show some of the wrecks counting their last days on this a bit unusual graveyard.
