Whichever place I visit, I always show its most interesting details. However, I won’t even try to fool you that I attempted to do it this time, as in case of a site I wanted to present now it was simply impossible. The mentioned place is the pet cemetery ‘Psi Los’, situated in Konik Nowy, a village near Warsaw (Poland), consisting of two a bit remote from each other parts (the old and new cemetery), and full of the details turning it into a really weird place.

An Abandoned Church on the Hill. One More Story of Decay [Czech Republic]

It was a gloomy day and better weather would definitely make a trip nicer, especially as it was a long walk through villages and areas which can be simply named as the middle of nowhere. However, after reaching the place it appeared that the grey sky perfectly filled the scenery where the final destination of the journey was situated. This place was an old decaying church on the hill, still carefully covered with greyness, so common for the beginning of spring, and together with the colourless clouds making this site even a bit frightening.

An Oasis of Magic in the Gloomy Desert. A Few Sculptures near the Workshop [Vilnius, Lithuania]

A few sculptures that ended up in a rather unusual place for pieces of art to be found—a yard of a workshop in Vilnius (Lithuania). A huge lamb, a man with a dolphin, another one sitting on the chair and other creatures surprise everyone who sees them passing through the industrial area where they are situated. The sculptures are not perfect—it is easy to notice, for instance, some missing parts and cracks. However, considering the gloominess of the place, these defects seem to be suiting these pieces of art perfectly and making them an inherent part of the grey industrial area surrounding them.

The Magic of Faded Frescoes. An Abandoned Manor House [Poland]

It was a completely accidental find and definitely the most impressive place seen on that trip to Southern Poland. A small manor house despite its simple architecture had such a beautiful interior that it wasn’t easy to leave the site quickly. Thus it’s worth to have a closer look on what’s hiding behind its walls.

A Fluffy Corner near the Block of Flats [Vilnius, Lithuania]

The time between the moment I got to know where this place is and the moment I went there was around one hour. Knowing about this weird site was simply impossible not to be in a hurry to see it. A small garden full of stuffed toys is something that definitely doesn’t happen to see every day.

The Abandoned Chapel ‘The Little White Temple’ [Czech Republic]

It was the most ruined place I visited during that trip but it had some charm despite its poor condition. Trees growing on the roof as well as bare walls suggested that the building is falling into ruin and old wooden pews significally bitten by time let assume that the place had been abandoned for a long time. Despite that, it was still possible to stuck in this place for a while exploring this little abandoned temple and its overgrown surroundings.

A Fairytale Corner in the Mountains [Bukowina Tatrzańska, Poland]

It does not happen too often to see a place like this. An oasis of magic and surreality in the desert of ordinariness—that’s probably the best way to describe this weird site, forcing to stop everyone who by some reason pass through the area where it’s situated. Unusual decorations on the fence as well as some strange details visible behind it wake up the curiosity and invite to enter the gate.

It was the first abandoned church in the Czech Republic that I got to know about and the one that made me search even for more of them. Not surprising at all, as the beauty of its interior can make you stay inside for ages. Thus it’s worth to open its heavy doors and have a closer look on what is hidden behind.

Taking a Road Through the Unexplored Area of the Pilsen Region [Czech Republic]

A good thing about travelling by trains and buses is that sometimes there’re no connections to the place where you want to go and you have to go there on foot. This is what happened to me on the way to one of the sites I planned to visit in the Pilsen Region (Czech Republic). No trains and buses there made me take a backroad through fields and forests, and that was a perfect occasion to see the less explored part of that area which probably still remains unknown even for many locals.
